Thirteen members from the East Ridge Debate Team competed in the Central MN National Speech and Debate Association’s Congressional Debate National Qualifier at the Minnesota House of Representatives on November 8th.
In the three houses, the team had many successes: 8th place by Clare McIntyre, 6th place by Joanna Chen, 5th place by Julie Ma, 5th place by Amy Guo, 4th place by KV Do, 3rd place by Mridula Arun, 2nd place by Lindsay Martin, and 1st place by Jane Ahmann, who got scored perfectly by all of her judges.
In the senate, Sam Padmanabhan received 8th place and Mark Salnikov received 1st place.
Ahmann and Salnikov both qualified for the National Speech and Debate tournament in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in June 2018. Additionally, the East Ridge Debate Team won the Central Minnesota Congressional Sweepstakes for their incredible performance!
